Geeky jewelry

Just because we know our way around computers and social networks doesn't mean we don't like to wear shiny things.
Here is some fabulous geeky jewelry for the Facebook and Twitter crowd. It doesn't have to be retro to be groovy. Au courant can be groovy, too, as Survival of the Hippest so proves.

Food for Baby Astronauts
We knew that starting kids younger and younger on a career path gives them a competitive edge, but this beats all. Applesauce in a tube, so your baby can start preparing to be an astronaut! We ate freeze-dried ice cream ("like the astronauts ate") and drank our Tang dutifully, but today's kids are lucky. Food in a tube! How groovy is that?

The Price of a '37 Studebaker

We groovy people are not saying that the Studebaker is a groovy car. We'll reserve judgment for further consideration. This post is about the price of the car. We all know that things were cheaper in "the good old days," but consider this geeky (and groovy) statistic. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, the $665 price tag of a brand new car in this 1936 ad is equivalent to spending $10,467.91 today. Can anyone buy a new car for "only" ten grand today? Bring back the groovy good old days! And the 5 cent cigar, while you're at it.

Irony

We groovy people laugh at the irony - the unexpected. Creative, and clever, and a big "Well done!" to photographer Chema Madoz.

Playing With Your Food
Allegedly the largest work of art made from toast, this 16' x 16' Mona Lisa in Hong Kong is groovy. We Groovy People hope the artist didn't get scolded by his mother for playing with his food, because this is much more contributive to our culture than a guy buying fat pants for all the toast he ate, know whut I mean?

Flexible Calculator

If you need a calculator that is neither serious nor scientific, here is a fun, flexible, multicolored option. The colors blend wildly like the mystery flavor Dum Dums. Groovy.

Action Figures

We had art in school today. Did you know Van Gogh cut off his ear? We groovy people do not endorse Steve Martin's weight loss advice (lopping off body parts until you achieve your goal) but action figures are really groovy, for kids of all ages.

Laissez Les Bons Temps Rouler

So you're standing along Main Street in some little town in lower Alabama, minding your own business, when here comes a parade. It has the JROTC carrying the flag, it has marching bands, truck bands, and six ginormous floats. Atop these floats are people who throw things at you. Like Moonpies. Stuffed animals. Beads. Lots o' beads. Shiny beads. Interesting beads. How groovy is that?

Homemade Cookies
.jpg)
Everyone knows that homemade cookies are groovier than store-bought cookies. For one, you can pronounce all the ingredients in these: (real) butter, sugar, flour, pecans.
In addition, Mom's cookies have a secret ingredient that factories can never duplicate: L-O-V-E.
We groovy people love these cookies.

Rope Light Nativity
Having sought unsuccessfully for several years to replace this rope light nativity whose lights were going out, Martha Stewart visited our home and patched in the darkened areas with clear rope lights wrapped in colored cellophane. At night, one can hardly tell the difference between the Live and the Memorex. Tres groovy, n'est-ce pas?
