Mirror Ball Globe

With all the GPS and mapping capabilities available online, any school district that spends funds on maps and globes should be shuttered. Here, we groovy people believe, is the highest, best and grooviest use for the old globe stands.

can you make these? what about adding power to make it spin? also perhaps if you could make the various continents different colors then you would have a great accessory to your living room...

I love, Love, LOVE the mirror idea, using different colors for the different continents! My son has a globe that he could care less what happens to it! I predict in the near future that it just might come up missing from his room! Now to find the patients to make a multi-colored mirrored globe. Somebody sign me up at the looney bin!

Made this a couple of months ago! Easy, easy, easy! Bought a large disco ball hanging ornament around Christmas time at Hancock Fabrics for $7.00 on sale(same diameter as the globe I picked up on the cheap at Ross, $12). The base that the mirror tiles were glued to was foam, so all I had to do was unscrew the globe from the base, poke a hole in the top and bottome of the disco ball with a knife, and then screw it all back together. It turned out great and looks fabulous! Run, don't walk and go make one, you won't be sorry!
