I have tried to run this house on a democratic basis. I have extended the privilege of self-determination to both the woman I have married and the children I have sired. The vote has been denied to no one for the reasons of age, sex, or political affiliations. There has been no taxation without representation and open covenants have been openly arrived at. 

Last night I gave up my room to a guest who repeatedly referred to me as “Fats.” Telephone calls were made on my phone to New York, Chicago, Fairbanks, Alaska, and Hong Kong. I slept in a camp cot with my feet in the fireplace and my head in an ashtray while, outside my window, three harpies shrieked, “We love you Conrad,” 4723 times! 

Gentlemen, the democracy is over! Parliament has been dissolved, the Magna Carta has been revoked, and Nero is back in town. 

And you do not offer an emperor a warm 7-Up!!

We groovy people do not have a fig tree in our yard. If we did, we would surely be in figgy heaven. Just to stand under the sprawling umbrella of branches and *inhale* the smell of warm figs in the middle of July on the Gulf Coast, is heaven on earth.

Very, very groovy, those figs.

We groovy people are not sure of the physics of keeping these babies on our nose, but they are groovy, nonetheless.

Ham Radio

Ham radio is very groovy. Ordinary people can communicate and relay messages when & where the official media can't/won't.

We groovy people would not dream of declaring that people today are getting dumber, but Miss Kitty's bustle seems to be a much groovier (and wiser) approach to beauty than that of yet another victim of vanity dying from surgical implants.

Old Money

Old money is groovy, because it seems more authentic than the toilet paper being printed in the past 4 or 5 decades.

Old paper money certainly has collector value above its face value, but if the government tells you there is gold on deposit, do you believe them? I have no way to prove it.

I like old coins. They have value as money, but more importantly, they have melt value in the event of a financial meltdown.

You really can't lose with "old money." Very groovy, old money.

Birdbath

We groovy people are kind and generous. Since we have the means to share, we are obligated to share.

We share our clean water with the birds, and they share their beauty with us.

These are our neighbors. A book about neighbors. How groovy! Ginn Readers (Faith & Freedom series) as we said, are the grooviest books around, but this book deserves special mention since school started back today.

Groove Cats

So then, Groove Monkey told all his friends in the Groove Animal Kingdom how he was able to talk the admin into his own blog post because Groove Bunny had one.... and Groove Cats came and cat-wiped their way into their own post as well. We're letting Groove Cats in because we love their cousins, the lolcats. Could be an interesting trend or a slippery slope.
